The Living Word Community Church started in the summer of 2000 at the Regal Constellation Hotel, on Airport Road, with a number of prayer sessions initiated by the then Administrative Bishop of the Church of God in Eastern Canada, Bishop Canute Blake. Subsequent to the appointment of Bishop Blake as senior pastor of the Malton Church of God, the Rev. Colin Esseboom was appointed as the new senior pastor.
Early in the new church year beginning September 2000 the congregation moved to the Terry Miller Recreation Centre in Brampton with an attendance of about 6 people. The congregation began to grow rapidly and after a number stops the church was encouraged to seek the Lord for a more permanent location and in May 2002 the church leased a 4000 square feet commercial unit at 220 Rutherford Road South. By this time the church had a congregation of over 100 members and regular attendees.
Rev. Colin Esseboom decided to leave the church in January 2004 to return to being an International Evangelist.
This church believes in prayer therefore a number of prayer and fasting sessions were convened, as the Lord’s direction was sought in regard to the choice of a new pastor. In March 2004 the Administrative Bishop of the Church of God in Eastern Canada appointed Arnold Ainsley as the Senior Pastor. His appointment signaled the dawn of a new day in the life of this church and a new chapter in the Living Word journey began.
This episode involved the implementation of new organizational structure, new systems of accountability; and the congregation developed a mission and vision statements together with new core values. Under the new administration old ministries and programs were revamped and new ones organized.
The congregation experienced the favor of God with miracles after miracles as we negotiated the use of a new place of worship at the Heart Lake United Church, to which the congregation relocated in January 1, 2005.
Together the members and friends of Living Word commit themselves to mission and vision given to us by Christ and the church endeavor to continue “In Pursuit of a More Excellent Way”
